Re: Is it an insignificant fringe or not?

Good insight Sander: " In the larger community of say all Americans... or all engineers etc... the truth movement is not very significant... whether it's completely insignificant or not has very little if any impact." I re-read the OP - it is a collection of low specificity moans and exten...

Re: Discussion NOT Debate Topic #1 CD/CU

Topic #2 likely falls outside of my level of engineering abilities (seeing I'm not one). It will make me think... ....carefully. I'd go with a good discussion of why it wasn't a good fit. I'll think about how we do it. Maybe if I take the "why nots" point by point.

Re: Discussion NOT Debate Topic #1 CD/CU

Topic#1: I don't think BV 07 CD/CU mechanism is a good fit for the towers at all. Topic#2: This starts my interest in the subject. I would add "Can it be made to work and what are it's implications outside of the WTC setting?" . This probably is too broad of a scope but it does represent ...

Re: Is this forum becoming JREF-lite?

That was quick. I'm sticking with "fell apart". Pedantic systems level response. Full system or external view was "fell apart" Internal view or subsystem perspective is "torn apart" - some inside bits (AKA the sub system of the falling weight part of ROOSD) tore apart ...

Re: Is this forum becoming JREF-lite?

I know you are not a Bazantophile Ozeco, this post is not aimed at you. Thanks and thanks also for this following explanation. The point I am making is.... Why is Bazant still being brought up with any kind of relevance either inside or outside the WTC collapse discussion/debate?" We know that...

Re: Is this forum becoming JREF-lite?

Gawd stundie - why do you persist in false generalisations - we both - you and I - know you can do better. [/quote:2cj2909o] I'm still waiting to see evidence of this claim.[/quote:2cj2909o] I had a brief but positive series of posts with Stundie on D...

Re: Discussion NOT Debate Topic #1 CD/CU

This discussion will be of some interest to me mostly because I never really had much interest in the Bazant papers. That said, the outline looks like a solid starting point. I may become more active when we get to the "Contextual Issues" as I've always viewed these papers in a more conce...

Looks fine to me.

OK - I'll edit out the preliminary stuff BUT won't change the "draft suggestions" content once we get (if we get  ) value adding contributions.

Re: Is this forum becoming JREF-lite?

For what it's worth (not much), I was interested in doing this some years back so a few comments. And Bazant wants a single generic model that can cover the full range. All he's got is 1D. To the extent that 1D approximates a given situation well, it may be used. I think the apartment verinages (ev...

Re: Is this forum becoming JREF-lite?

I'm musing on how different the terms "cd/cu" and "fell apart" are. Absolutely - and diametrically opposed in concept. B&V cd/cu means "maintained structural integrity till crushed" - and it is implicitly 1D Reality was "torn apart" NOT "fell apart&q...

Re: General Discussion

OK I've posted an OP in the Debate Area: Discussion NOT Debate Topic #1 CD/CU - and in the opening asked OWE if he agrees to it there- it is a proposal for a different process to achieve the same goal IMO - but could be interpreted - well it is - opposing the "winners v losers" combative s...

Re: Is this forum becoming JREF-lite?

The usefulness of Bazant models outside the WTC application. There is no use for any of the 4 Bazant's models inside or outside of the WTC applications. The sooner you pantomime debunkers realise this, the sooner the conversation can move on. However, you don't want to move on and need to keep it c...

Re: Is this forum becoming JREF-lite?

You need to add a never before seen type of fire in an office building into that. I think no one would object to that given the extensive experimental evidence. The risk - as usual - being that you and I will come from the opposite directions. From the big picture "cannot happen the first time...
