I didn't, actually. I was being diplomatic, and acknowledging that my feelings of omniscience might be just that - feelings.

I have repeatedly emphasised that I have left the details out - it is a deliberate part of my approach to the challenge of explaining.

Quite fine.

In the polarised environment over there I incur risks when agreeing with Major_Tom and I was attempting to agree whilst pre-empting anticipated counter attacks from those with entrenched points of view including the Bazant literalists.

Of course; an intellectual gymkhana it is.

A good metaphor. Most of the obstacles being totally unaware of the activity which is weaving around them.

The number of members capable of meta-process analysis or commentary is quite low. And my self defined "rules of engagement" can be quite limiting. I try not to pursue or even recognise postings which have the objective of personal attack. At some risk of being perceived as giving tacit endorsement to something when I am really applying "active ignore"

Contrast with Ratskep where I have simply walked away from my former position of leading technical debater because the only opposition is from entrenched trolls.
